The Sanctuary of Sound

Tulsa's Church Studio blends music history with modern recording, tours, events, and the legacy of Leon Russell and the Tulsa Sound.

When local entrepreneur and Church Studio restorer Teresa Knox asked if I'd like to edit her coffee table book about the facility, its history, and her restoration, I jumped at the chance.

I provided developmental editorial work that transformed the draft manuscript into a polished, engaging final product. My role chapter restructuring, content re-writing, fact-checking, and ensuring consistent formatting. I recommended new content that strengthened the narrative while preserving Teresa's voice and the significance of the subject matter.

Sanctuary of Sound now reads smoothly, presents a cohesive story, and appeals to casual readers and music historians. It's a lasting tribute to the Church Studio’s legacy.

By balancing narrative storytelling with editorial discipline, I ensured that the finished work resonates with the music community,  remains faithful to Teresa's vision, and stands up to professional publishing standards.
