And Then, We Moved to Tulsa
Well we're movin' on up
To the east side
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Or, as it turns out, the west side.
And not so much in the sky but on the second floor. Even the photo above is from above us on the third floor of our apartment building.
But, we're here.
In Tulsa.
After months of planning. Shelf-building. Storage tote buying. Google searching list making phone number calling finance checking rental truck scheduling.
And for the third time? Fourth time? Fifth? Stuff-sorting, deciding what to toss, what to keep, and what to take.
Minimalism Gone Wrong
Somehow we went from being traditional suburban dwellers to RVing minimalists, downsizing all of our possessions into a 19' camper van to once-again home owners in rural MO, with a garage full of cars, garden tools, and folding chairs.
And now - unexpectedly?
Out-of-state landlords with enough stuff to leave behind a furnished house and also have a fully furnished apartment.
Landlords.
Us, the people who once swore we'd never own another traditional house.
City Mice
We've now been in Tulsa two weeks. We spent the first week getting unpacked and the apartment sorted.
As we got more comfortable with our new spot we started venturing out. We went to a dixie brass band concert, had brunch with friends at a restaurant we could walk to, and explored an antique show.
Later in the week we realized the library was only a 10-minute walk away. We got library cards and checked out some actual books. That night we found a local jazz night just a 10-minute walk the other way.
Tulsa Remote
Next week I'll get finalized into the Tulsa Remote program. Once that's done we'll start to see some of the relocation money, I'll get access to the 36 Degrees North co-working spot, and we can start attending the various Tulsa Remote community events.
We're anxious to meet some of the other folks who've moved here as part of the program!
