Spam prevention just gets silly at times. We have DSL through Yahoo! SBC. In order to fight spam, they require that I use their outgoing SMTP mail server. Fine.
My webhost also has a spam protection system as part of the email package they provide. When it sees email coming from outside the domain but still asscociated with the domain (say, for example, a boyink.com email message coming from a Yahoo! SBC mail server), it’s considered - you guessed it - spam.
So the end result of two preventative measures in fighting spam is that I cannot email my wife, upstairs, as another Boyink.com user without the email being trapped in quarrantine as a spam message.
Lovely.
