Dad in muddy boots walking blithely across a kitchen floor just cleaned by an exasperated mum who just gives a frustrated but loving smile to her giggly children, who cry out: “Da-a-ad!”. Just one advertising cliche, and just one where no-one behaves like people really do. Link >>
Yeah, I admit it - this is more of a pet peeve of mine that being directly related to web development.
Unless you’re responsible for creating web advertising. Then take heed - show me a man in your ad who behaves like this, and you can then show me the back-button.
What amazes me is how so many people just don’t see ads this way. I’ve brought up the incredibly insulting Chrysler Mini-van ad in conversations only to be told how much they like that ad and, come on, you don’t ever have to be “rescued” by your wife when you’re out playing with your Jeep?
No, I can honestly say in 19 years of owning an old Jeep (18 of that with no working gas gauge, btw) that I have only had to be “rescued” once, when the starter went out.
C’mon advertisers. Sell me without insulting me, OK?
