Site Launch > KandKLandscapes.com

I’m pleased to announce the launch of http://kandklandscapes.com.  The site uses a Themeforest for it’s visuals and runs on ExpressionEngine to allow K&K staff to maintain the content.

Invariably whenever I mention the use of a purchased theme a discussion starts about how appropriate that approach is for building client sites.

So here’s the thing - Boyink Interactive is not a web design shop specifically, but rather provides clients with completed sites that fit their business requirements and budgets.  For K&K using a pre-built theme provided a site that is visually light-years ahead of their local competition (landscaping being a highly localized business) while keeping the costs to a minimum.

Is the themed approach right for everyone?  Certainly not.  Does it have it’s place in the world?  Yep.

So here’s hoping the site helps keep Kevin and crew busy during the warm season here in Michigan.

I was always against themes, but I came to the realization that I’m not a graphic designer and themes can be a great option. Most of the theme prices are a lot more affordable than the labor cost of building something like that yourself.

The site looks great, just one question. Why isn’t there a portfolio link in the top with the home and about links? If you go to the about page you have to go back home to get to the portfolio links.
