Blogs have been the focus of numerous media reports recently, but so far their economic impact is all but immeasurable - and they make many businesses nervous. While they can burnish brands, generate awareness and open doors to consumers, blogs can also bend Web traffic, upend organic search results and tarnish a company’s reputation. Link >>

eMarketer.com has published a report on the business of blogging.  It would be interesting to hear a review from someone who can afford the $695 price tag for the 15 page report.

So, $46/page is a bit steep for your budget? Must be some darn good research. I had a report published once at $295 for 58 pages and thought the people who set the price were crazy.

On point - the value I am finding in the blog arena is a much more active and viral way of promoting my consulting practice. I am a huge believer in the power of networking and blogging seems to be an effective way to open networking connections I never knew exisited.

The report I wrote wasn’t available on line so the issues are somewhat different, but the publisher who hired me to write for him said he would only sell 10% more if he dropped the price to $49 - he told me that “people who needed the report would be willing to pay” the outrageous price.
