- Just a Thought…

...If the folks responsible for writing content for a website obsessed over their work like the folks worried about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) then the SEO guys probably wouldn’t be needed….

Just in time for the Holidays!
I’m pleased to announce that Christ Memorial Church here in Holland, MI has launched their new website.
The site was designed by a CMC staff member, and Boyink Interactive implemented it on ExpressionEngine, which allows the church to distribute responsibility for content maintenance to multiple church volunteers and staff members.
Some of the content is forthcoming, but it often happens the new site reached the “better than the previous site” tipping point. Going live with the new site often seems to be the best way to “inspire” those responsible for outstanding content to “get ‘er done” as well.

- Churches: Stop PDF-ing!
-
OK, so I’m making up words. Or, maybe I’m not.
In any case, today’s message is for churches to stop using the web simply as a online distribution channel for printed items like bulletins and newsletters.
I’ll say that again. In another way, just for the sake of entertainment. If you think your church website is finally “up to date” because you just uploaded a PDF version of this month’s church newsletter, you are mistaken.

- RIP FrontPage
-
After nine years of being an award-winning Web authoring tool, FrontPage will be discontinued in late 2006. We will continue to serve the diverse needs of our existing FrontPage customers with the introduction of two brand-new application building and Web authoring tools using the latest technologies: Office SharePoint Designer 2007 for the enterprise information workers and Expression Web for the professional Web designer. - StoriesAboutGod.org Updates

First, there is a new story posted on the site today - be sure to go read His Canopy Protect Me by SAG newbie Nickelle.
Second - I’ve decided to try an experiment: Starting January 2007, once a month I will pay $25 for a “Story About God”.
I’ll be formalizing this idea between now and New Year’s, but in general the approach will be: I will accept story proposals via email for the first week of the month, then (if there are more than one), one story will be randomly choosen and the author sent $25. Authors of non-winning entries can choose whether they still want their story posted to the site.
Comments/thoughts/links appreciated.
