Project Guidelines

Work I'm Interested In:

I love working at the front-end of web related projects where the work is creative and strategic. I love to help clients succeed in their projects - so have taken great pains to build tools, processes and relationships that ensure that success. I work best in the following ways:

  • New projects where I can be involved early on as Information Architect or Internet Strategist.
  • New projects where I can work directly with the client as General Contractor/Consultant - performing the roles I'm skilled at and supplying other resources as needed.
  • New projects being led by other skilled interactive teams / agencies where my involvement is providing the ExpressionEngine direction and implementation.
  • New projects where I can provide ExpressionEngine consulting - reviewing project documentation and providing a development plan.
  • New projects with realistic schedule and budget.
  • Projects where I can work with and learn from other established EE developers.
  • Teaching ExpressionEngine to existing interactive teams.

If this describes your project please do contact me. My availability is subject to change - but if my schedule doesn't match the project schedule I can also offer qualified referrals at a reasonable cost.

Work I'm Not Interested In:

Think of me as an architect and builder rather than a repairman. One of the largest reasons I'm so picky about how projects are done at the front-end is to avoid having naggling no-fun issues at the end. In that vein I'm not interested in:

  • Fixing functionality or display issues on sites I didn't build.
  • Taking over the general maintenance and upkeep of sites I didn't build.
  • Being on-call as any sort of ExpressionEngine Support Consultant.
  • Acting as paid ExpressionEngine tech support to those not happy with the existing options.
  • Implementing sites with designs done by designers new to the web or with only print experience.
  • Projects on any sort of "emergency" schedule.
  • Projects where there is an expectation of a discount or non-profit rate.
  • Projects where the developer will be chosen based on being the low-cost provider.
  • Projects where the main hiring criteria is the developer's immediate availability.

If your project is one of these I don't provide referrals - your best bet is a post on the ExpressionEngine Job Forum.
