Every once in a while the topic of rear “Troop Seats” comes up in CJ6 discussions. I just spotted what are the best photos I have seen of a troop seat etup on a CJ6 currently on eBay. I can’t speak for the originality of the seats, and the seat backs do appear a bit different than the ones I’ve spotted in the marketing literature of the era. But - they do appear to have the early Jeep personality. Update: a member of the EarlyCJ5.com forum emailed the owner these are custom troop seats.
The Jeep in question is a 1971 V6 model CJ6 - and has been nicely restored. A few more pics after the jump…
The text of the ad reads:
1971 Jeep CJ-6, 225 Dauntless V-6, 3 speed manual trans. This Jeep underwent a major restoration a few years ago. Body was removed and stripped, chassis was stripped and everything was repainted and reassembled.
Details include:
5 New tires, new shocks, new brakes (lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, master cylinder,etc..), new wheel bearings, new axle seals, rebuilt steering box, new steering wheel, re-cored radiator, new starter, rebuilt dual jet carburetor, new wiring harness, new marker and taillights, new soft-top, new fuel tank, new seats. The list is endless, but some key features include oil bath air cleaner, correct Spartan self canceling turn signal, rare CJ-6 option (body is 20 inches longer than CJ-5). All sheet-metal is Jeep original. Jeep was originally from Arizona and so body was in nice solid condition before restoration. The Dauntless engine starts right up and runs very strong. Paint is PPG base/clear urethane. Jeep has been driven approximately 1000 miles since completion. Overall condition is very nice with some minor details needed (one guage is missing, heater controls need finished).
Tough to believe this Jeep is just a couple hours away from me in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
