1975 CJ6 Owned By Randy Lefler

Here’s a couple photos of Randy Lefler’s 1975 CJ6.  I think Randy summed up the CJ6 experience for many of us by saying “Thought it was a bit strange when I first saw it but it grew on me.”  Indeed - after having a CJ6 in the garage for a couple of years the CJ5s start to look really short and stubby…

I THOUGHT I SHOULD ADD SOME HISTORY TO THIS CJ6. I FOUND IT IN THE DESERT WHERE A YOUNG MAN WAS PART OF A VOLUNTEER RESCUE EFFORT.  I THOUGHT IT WAS SORT OF STRANGE LOOKING BUT,  JUST LIKE A HOMELY OLE DOG YOU KIND OF GET ATTACHED TO IT. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT APART AND REFURBISHING THE FRAME AND BODY. IT WILL BE THE POOR-MAN VERSION BUT WILL BE A STURDY AND RELIABLE RIDE WHEN I’M FINISHED.  IT CAME STOCK WITH A 3-SPEED BUT AT SOME POINT A T-18A 4 SPEED WAS SWAPPED IN.  IT CAME STOCK WITH 232 CU IN SIX AND A 258 SIX, CIRCA 1984, WAS SWAPPED IN, BUT THEY LEFT THE SINGLE BARREL CARB. IT HAS A DANA 20 TRANSFER CASE AND STOCK DANA 44 REAR AXLE AND MATCHING 30 FRONT WITH 3.74 GEARS WITH A “POWER LOCK” LOCKER IN THE REAR. IT IS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION, IT’S JUST BEEN IN THE HOT SUN TO LONG.
