Craig Evins from Texas sent me some pics of his super-sweet ‘56 CJ6. Jim Allen, take note - here’s a CJ6 to feature in your next book…
Craig writes:
I finally stopped spending money on the jeep long enough to purchase a digital camera. Just as a refresher this is a 1956 CJ6 that I purchased on August 3, 2004.
It had been stored in a barn for several years and did not run. The tub was beat up but had no rust. All the original interor was gone and numerous drill holes and self tapping screws were scattered throughout the jeep.
I knew immediately after seeing it that I wanted to put it back to its original glory. With the help of all my Jeepin buddies we began work on it. As you know its hard to find a starting point, so it ended up going to the frame and we began there.
The original axles, transmission and transfer case had to all be rebuilt. We took the F-Head motor apart and to our suprise had been rebuilt so we installed all new gaskets and put it back together. Everthing else was individually sanded, primed and painted and then reinstalled.
So anyways there is no end to a Jeep but hopefully I can take it to a few old car shows and have some fun with it.
